About the course

How are political decisions made? Who has political power and why? Why do people vote as they do? A Level Government and Politics provides a sound introduction to the study of politics and political decision making in Britain and the European Union. The course examines how policy evolves, the key political issues that have shaped political debate in the UK, and European integration. The subject is not only about current political affairs, but it will help students to take a balanced view of important issues and learn how to evaluate information.

As such the course is useful for any student considering a career in central or local government, journalism or the media, the police, the armed forces or the legal profession. In addition to politics itself, this course would also enhance further study in areas such as economics, sociology or history.
