About the Course
A level Law involves a study of the Legal System of England and Wales. Students will become familiar with the organisation of the courts and with the role of judges and magistrates. They will gain a knowledge and understanding of topics such as judicial precedent, statutory interpretation and the role of solicitors, barristers etc. Students are encouraged to develop an understanding of the changing nature of law in society. Many real life cases are studied and students will develop a critical awareness of the present state of the law in England and Wales. In the second year the knowledge and understanding obtained in the first year is applied to consumer law and here students will benefit from the strong hands on legal problem element.
